When you work for Speech Connections, you become part of a team who supports and encourages each other. Whatever your experience and interest, we'll work hard to find the environment and schedule that works for you, and we'll grow with you as your needs change.

Why Speech Connections?

Speech Connections provides speech-language pathologists on a contract basis to schools in Washington State. We’re a highly qualified team of ASHA certified therapists, with over 18 years of experience in the school setting. We provide the right amount of supervision and mentoring for new graduates, and we welcome those who have been in practice for many years. We desire long-term relationships with our therapists.

Whatever your ideal schedule or population might be, we will help you find it at Speech Connections. As an employee of Speech Connections, we consider you a team member. We match your skills and job requirements to available positions in school districts, which we refer to as our clients. Your paychecks come from us, not the client. We also provide benefits. We work hard to create a collaborative environment between you and a network of highly qualified professionals.

We strive to maintain a collaborative, supportive culture. Throughout the year we offer opportunities for our employees to get together to interact professionally and socially. Our company does not employ a non-compete clause: we want you to want to work with us. Once placed, if you find the school district is meeting your needs better than Speech Connections, you are free to hire on with the district once your current contract has expired.

The Placement Process

We place therapists in schools throughout Washington State. We know this market and we research our clients carefully. We offer full-time and part-time placements.

You tell us your job preferences and we do our best to match the district and population you desire. Each placement is reviewed carefully with the therapist and the school district so questions or concerns are addressed up front.

Once we make a placement, we stay in touch to ensure the match is working for everyone. As a Speech Connections team member, you always have the ability to accept or deny placements.

FAQs

Doesn’t contracting mean less money and no benefits?
Speech Connections offers all the benefits you would receive as if you were a school district employee with the added benefit of making more money per hour.

Does Speech Connections provide support after I am placed with a school district?
At Speech Connections we pride ourselves on connecting with our employees to make sure they are feeling supported and valued. Through email, phone calls, cards, school visits, CF supervision, “watering holes,” and company dinners you won’t feel deserted.

Does contracting prevent me from accepting a permanent position?
At Speech Connections we don’t employ a “no compete clause.” We want you to want to work with us. Once placed, if you find the school district is meeting your needs better than Speech Connections, you are free to hire on directly with the district, as district employee, once your current contract has expired.

Will I still receive CF supervision if I work for Speech Connections?
At Speech Connections we don’t put the CF supervision burden on the school district, relieving their employees of supervision duty. We are honored to supervise all CF candidates and help them become confident and secure in their new career.

Will I be treated differently in a school district because I’m a contract worker?
Although it is hard to predict the climate of all school districts, so far, all Speech Connections employees have had a positive experience working as a contracted SLP. As a contractor you have the ability to choose how connected you want to be with your schools and SLP team beyond school hours. Contracting also allows you to stay out of the union and politics of a district.
